Instead of sending out our usual video or greeting card, we have decided to donate to a worthy cause. The charity we have chosen is ONE, which is a global movement campaigning against poverty, in particular through increased investment in technology (for more details, please see below).

What is ONE?

ONE is a global movement campaigning to end extreme poverty and preventable disease by 2030, so that everyone, everywhere can lead a life of dignity and opportunity. Their belief is that the fight against poverty isn’t about charity, but about justice and equality.

Where does our help come in?

With offices across Africa, Europe and North America, ONE’s teams educate governments on how to shape better policy solutions that save and improve millions of lives — and which every year are under threat from cuts and other priorities.  

Among many other initiatives, ONE has been campaigning for many years for increased investment in technology and innovation across Africa, as it can unlock the potential for hundreds of millions of people and is critical for promoting meaningful economic growth. They, we, need to make sure everyone has access to the infrastructure that they need — including the internet and mobile networks, and the skills to use technology to transform their lives and their communities.
